Christmas January 2025

I have 3 cards for you today.  Cards 1 and 2 just weren't blog worthy, but I am including them after my 'good' card, and I'll share what I learned from them.  I had just filmed my Frugal Friday video on using Designer Series Paper (DSP) scraps, so you'll see a few of those leftovers on card #1.

I'll link that video below.

For all 3 cards, I used the 2 trees from the Frosted Forest stamp set (I did die cut these, but they could easily be fussy cut), the sentiment from the Decorative Trees stamp set, both Shaded Spruce and Garden Green inks, and adhesive-backed Metallic Gems for my embellishments.

This is actually card #3 and I love it!  I used the directions from this blog post using patterned paper from Nests of Winter and a label from Something Fancy dies to create a faux step card.  I mixed up my greens to add interest using Shaded Spruce and Garden Green inks on Shaded Spruce and Soft Sea Foam cardstocks for the trees.

After card #1 (below) didn't turn out, this was attempt #2.  While I like it and will send it next Christmas, it wasn't the WOW card I think you all expect from me each month.  A blending brush with blue ink and a torn piece of copy paper was used to create the sky.

Well, this was card #1.  I try to only use current Stampin' Up! products when I plan on sharing a project with you.  Here I used Brushed Silver & Gold Fold (I used silver) and I started with Night of Navy ink on my blending brush, hoping/expecting to create a night sky.  Well, the dye ink didn't color the foil as I wanted.  It was a faint navy blue, but not night sky.  I then used a blending brush with StazOn Jet Black ink.  Again, not the night sky I wanted.  To get this look, on that same piece of foil, I swiped the StazOn black pad across the foil.  It was close to what I wanted, but I was ready to be done with this card, so I just finished it.  Whew!  I put a lot of effort into this one card.  Do you do that very often?

The sentiment was stamped on Bloom Impressions DSP (a 2025 Sale-a-bration product) and cut with an Unbounded Loves Die.  The large tree on the right was stamped on a scrap of DSP from Toadstools Garden, another Sale-a-bration product. Finally, the large tree in the back was stamped on a scrap of DSP in the Unbounded Beauty pack.

Here is my Frugal Friday video on using scraps.  I created only houses in this video.  Watch for a future Frugal Friday video where I create trees!
